This man believes he did the right thing by selling his girlfriend’s Taylor Swift tickets.

Pop sensation Taylor Swift concluded her extensive Eras tour in Vancouver, Canada, earlier this week, leaving attendees with unforgettable memories. However, one woman was left devastated as she missed the opportunity to see her favorite artist perform live – all because her boyfriend sold their tickets.

The man defended his actions, stating he had a compelling reason to sell the two tickets, which cost him $800 CAD ($564 USD). He claimed that he recently discovered a shocking secret about his girlfriend, which made him feel so betrayed that he “couldn’t stomach the thought” of attending the concert with her.

In a Reddit post, the man shared that his girlfriend has been a “massive fan” of Taylor Swift for as long as he’s known her. Knowing how much the concert would mean to her, he decided to surprise her with tickets when he had some extra cash.

However, he later found out that his partner had been sending “flirty messages” to a coworker for months. Upon confronting her, she confessed to having an “emotional affair” and admitted they had “kissed several times”.

He wrote: “Last week, I discovered she’d been secretly meeting up with her ‘work friend’ for months. I found out because she accidentally left her Instagram DMs open on my laptop (she’d been using it to print something), and I saw weeks of flirty messages and plans to meet up. When I confronted her, she tried to deny it at first but eventually admitted they’d kissed several times and had been having an emotional affair.

“I was devastated. These tickets were meant to be a special experience for us, and I couldn’t stomach the thought of taking her after this betrayal. Rather than let them go to waste, I decided to sell them. Given how insane the Taylor Swift ticket market was, I managed to sell them for $2,400 CAD ($1,692 USD) – triple what I paid.”

The man recounted how his girlfriend “completely lost it” upon discovering he sold the tickets, accusing him of “ruining her dream” and arguing that since the tickets were a “gift” they should rightfully belong to her. Nevertheless, in light of her infidelity, he felt justified in deciding what to do with tickets he purchased.

Online supporters mostly backed the boyfriend’s decision, pointing out that her actions likely surpassed an emotional affair due to the physical intimacy involved. Yet, a few suggested it would have been fair to offer her the chance to buy the tickets before he resorted to selling them online, thereby giving her the opportunity to still enjoy the concert solo.

One person said: “It wasn’t an emotional affair if they were kissing. It was an actual affair. If you still took her to a concert after she had an affair with someone else, THAT would be weird. You should move on and let her have her new relationship out in the open and let THAT person buy her Swift tickets.”

Meanwhile, another wrote: “The tickets were a gift meant for a special experience together, and her betrayal completely changed that. You had every right to sell them since you paid for them, and she broke your trust. It’s understandable that she’s upset, but her actions led to this situation.”
