Radio presenter Dean McCullough has said he came back from Australia to 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘴 and trolling after a tough stint on I’m A Celebrity where he faced six Bushtucker Trials

Dean McCullough has opened up about how he changed after doing I’m A Celeb, revealing that he was ‘not the person’ he was when he flew out to Australia because of the 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘴 he received.
The radio presenter took part in last years’ series of ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here and was voted to do six Bushtucker Trials in a row, making his time on the show difficult. Whilst talking to Ranvir Singh on Lorraine on Friday morning (21 November), he revealed that he was “quite sad” to see the campmates fly off this year.
“When I saw all the campmates fly to Australia this year, it made me feel quite sad,” he said. Dean shared that he had “really wanted to do” I’m A Celeb last year and “was so grateful to be asked” but that he was a different person when he came back.

He said: “The person I was flying to Australia was not the person I was coming back, because of the trolling. I had 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘴 and DMs and comments. My team were so worried.”
Earlier this year, Dean shared what people had been saying to him online. He told the Daily Star Sunday: “When I came out of the jungle, I started getting so many 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘴.
“People tell me they wish I’d got AIDS and died or that if they see me in the street they’re going to batter me. People were saying they were to come to my work at the BBC and my house. It hurt. It was really heavy stuff.”
Following the threats, Dean involved the Greater Manchester Police, who since started an investigation. Details of the threats were “passed to police forces across the UK” to help identify the senders.

Dean said: “There are 35 different accounts that were classed as having malicious contact and 12 of them were aggravated malicious contact, which is basically a 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘴. They’re being identified.”
Talking to Ranvir on Lorraine, he added that the rest of the I’m A Celeb cast from his series were very supportive. “Everyone had my back in the Jungle because they experienced the real me,” he explained. “The people at home saw this two dimensional person who got picked to do all the trials, so I’m glad they’re introducing the rule this year.”
This year, campmates can only face two trials in a row. If they are face two back to back, they will be ineligible for the next trial. So far, no campmate has faced two trials in a row. The only two campmates to face more than one in total are Aitch and Angry Ginge.
