Jorge Albert Chavez, 30, who allegedly k!lled Dafne Michelle Davila, 27, was pictured in a police mugshot with her name written across his chest following his arrest.
A man with his ex-girlfriend’s name tattooed on his chest has been accused of stabbing her to d3ath, the day before her birthday.
Jorge Albert Chavez, 30, allegedly k!Lled Dafne Michelle Davila, 27, in a property in El Paso, Texas, in the early hours of January 5. But in a mugshot supplied by the Sheriff’s office, the haunting word ‘Dafne’ can be seen just above his prison-issue orange top.
Police said they had been called to an address in the 600 block of Zinc Place, in the Horizon City area, following a report of ‘family violence’ at around 3.30am. They found Dafne in the home with ‘severe’ stab wounds. She was then rushed to hospital, where she tragically passed away. Police confirmed two days later that they had arrested Chavez after officers picked him up roughly 200 miles from the scene.

The police statement read: “At approximately 3:30 a.m., El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of family violence occurring at the 600 block of Zinc Place, in El Paso County, Texas. Upon arrival, deputies noticed the suspect leaving the scene in a gray 2024 Chevrolet pickup truck..
“Deputies communicated the suspect’s information to assisting law enforcement agencies. Once inside the residence, deputies discovered the female victim had been severely st@bbed. She was immediately transported to a local area hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. The 27-year-old female victim was later identified as Dafne Michelle Davila.”
Dafne and Chavez were said to have a ‘tumultuous’ relationship, according to Univision affiliate KINT. A text seen by the station that Dafne sent to a relative revealed she was having a tough time leaving Chavez. She wrote: “In reality it’s so hard for me to walk away and idk why because old me wouldn’t of lasted a second in this place… I know l have you and I’m beyond grateful but I can’t explain why I’m attached all I ask for is please be patient with me.”

A GoFundMe donation page set up to help with Dafne’s funeral costs said she was a “beautiful soul”. The tribute read: “On January 5th, 2025, a daughter, sister and friend, Dafne Michelle Davila lost her life after her ex-boyfriend took her life by stabbing her to d3ath. Dafne was not only physically beautiful, but an even more beautiful soul and with an even bigger heart. She was taken too soon, robbed the opportunity to accomplish her goals.”
Chavez is being held on a $1 million bond. He was caught in Reeves County and later moved to El Paso by the sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Unit.
Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said the force were investigating the case as a incident of “domestic violence”. He said: “This tragedy reminds us of the devastating impact domestic violence has on our community. Thanks to the strong collaboration between our partnering agencies, we were able to quickly locate and apprehend the suspect. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, please seek help—there are resources available to provide support and safety.”
