Tom Brady has been working with FOX as a lead analyst for nearly a full season now – but a former New England Patriots teammate of his isn’t too impressed

Tom Brady has been told he was a much better quarterback than he is a broadcaster by former teammate, Vince Wilfork, as speculation continues to grow around his future at FOX.
Brady has been working with FOX for nearly a full season now and has slowly been gaining credibility for his work as an analyst as time goes on. However, one person who isn’t the biggest fan of his FOX work is ex-New England Patriots teammate Wilfork.
While appearing on the WFAN radio show, the former defensive tackle was asked by host Gregg Giannotti what his thoughts were on Brady’s FOX career so far. But rather than praise Brady, Wilfork simply stared blankly and smiled before saying: “I don’t know. I mean, he’s very knowledgeable of the game. Like that’s what it is. But I would rather him be my quarterback than on TV doing what he’s doing now. I love him for [being] my quarterback.”
This viewpoint was reminiscent of how FOX NFL Sunday viewers felt this season regarding Brady. Most recently, he came under fire by calling the Philadelphia Eagles the ‘Phillies’ instead of ‘Philly’ – a name that is more typically used for the city’s baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
While it has been noted that the former NFL icon’s commentating has improved over the weeks, it has to be said that he was right to ask for advice from a legend in the broadcasting game before he signed up. Speaking back in October, FOX legend and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw revealed that Brady had reached out for advice on working live on air.
Speaking on the Today show, Bradshaw said: “Tom did say, ‘hey look, if you could give me some any advice at all, I really value what you have to say’, and I really appreciated that.”

Despite his vast improvements, there are suspicions that Brady’s relationship with FOX may not last much longer, as his influence at the Las Vegas Raiders is only expected to grow stronger leading into the offseason. In 2024, it was announced that Brady was to become a minority owner of the Raiders, with a five-percent stake in the AFC West team agreed upon.
This decision would make Brady’s TV work much more challenging, as the NFL has a strict set of rules to follow if he decides to remain with both parties. These include not criticizing any other teams or referees, entering team facilities, practices, or meetings, and being involved in pregame production meetings.
This conflict of interest would be difficult to manage for the 47-year-old, and despite signing a 10-year, $375million deal with the broadcasters, it remains to be seen if he will continue his work on FOX.

Wilfork also commented on this debate while on the radio show, as Giannotti claimed that Brady would be working up until the Super Bowl and then calling it quits. He said, “He may only be doing it this year, he’s so involved with the Raiders ownership. I wouldn’t be surprised. I think there’s a lot of rumblings that he does the Super Bowl, and he’s done.”
Wilfork agreed and added: “I heard there’s a lot going on with, you know, legally what he can and cannot do.”
There has been no official comment from Brady or FOX on his current deal, so only time will tell if the former quarterback will continue to appear on our television screens for the 2025 season.
