Good Morning Britain viewers were stunned today when former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. dramatically left his interview live from Ukraine, telling host Susanna Reid: ‘I’ve got to go’
There was chaos on Good Morning Britain today when Boris Johnson suddenly left his live interview.
The former Prime Minister, 60, was speaking to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley live from Kyiv exactly three years since Russia invaded Ukraine.
Admitting she was surprised to see Boris in the warzone as world leaders try to decide what do about the country’s ongoing problems with Russia, Susanna said: “This is a bit of surprise that you’ve turned up in Kyiv. It’s a big day, of course, because world leaders are having this call about what to do about Ukraine. What do you think should happen?”

Suggesting comments about Ukraine being to blame for the war after Trump accused leader Zelenskyy of ‘talking the US into spending $350 on aid’ for the country were “rubbish”, Boris announced he believes the minerals agreement between the US and Ukraine is close to being signed.
“That commits the US not only to future financing of Ukraine but also to a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine under Donald Trump,” he said, adding: “That is not to be sneezed at, it’s a very important commitment,” – before dramatically ending the interview.
“Anyways, I’ve got to love you and leave you,” Boris muttered while wrestling with his ear piece. However, keen to carry on the conversation, Richard interjected: “As a former prime minister, how do you deal with an American president who says that black is white. How do you talk to him?” Clearly in a hurry, Boris replied: “You have to keep knocking the ball back over the net”.

The politician then removed all his equipment and walked out of the shot as Susanna said: “Thank you very much indeed for your time this morning. Just disentangling himself from our microphone and off he goes.”
Susanna and Richard interrupted Good Morning Britain today to deliver the breaking news from Boris, as Susanna announced: “Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson tells this programme there is a deal to be done over Ukraine, and now is the time for the UK to step up in negotiations with the US to end.”
Richard then took over, saying: “He was speaking here live just a few minutes ago, predicting that there will be a deal in the next couple of days between America and Ukraine over mineral rights, which effectively, he says, will put America back with skin in the game. Big Game changer.
“Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of course, has said that he’ll step down from his job if it guarantees peace, so a lot happening today.”
It’s not the first time Boris has caused controversy on GMB after the former prime minister was accused of hiding in a fridge during an interview (

Boris has a history of ducking out of interviews on GMB after he was once accused of ‘hiding in fridge’ by Piers Morgan. The former Tory leader was ambushed by the producer, Jonathan Swain, in 2019 during a pre-dawn visit to Modern Milkman, a business in the Tory-held constituency of Pudsey, in Yorkshire.
When Swain first approached Boris, he asked: “Morning prime minister, would you come on Good Morning Britain, prime minister?” Boris’ aide can be heard mouthing “oh for f***’s sake” in response.
The show’s hosts, Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, appeared shocked by the aide’s reaction before Boris replied: “I’ll be with you in a second”, but then walked off.
Piers retorts: “He’s gone into the fridge” as Boris walks inside a fridge stacked with milk bottles with his aides. One person can be heard saying: “It’s a bunker.”
Conservative sources subsequently insisted that the former prime minister was “categorically not hiding” in the fridge, from which Boris emerged carrying a crate of milk bottles – but instead his aides were taking a moment to prep the Etonian for a separate, pre-agreed interview.
