Fans of The Chase accused the ITV quiz show of “not having enough money” on Tuesday as a brand new episode aired. Presenter Bradley Walsh was back at the helm of the much-loved programme as he welcomed four players on to the show to challenge Paul Sinha, also known as the Sinnerman.

The show sees contestants take on one of five professional quizzers, known as The Chasers, putting their wits to the test in a bid to win a huge cash prize. They take on the quizzer individually in an attempt to add to an overall prize fund, which they will compete for as a team in the Final Chase. The chaser must attempt to catch each contestant during their round, eliminating that person from the game and preventing the money from being added to the collective prize fund. George from Maidenhead, Paula from Mold, John from Dorset and Margo from Brampton were the players in the hot seat this evening.

However, the show got off to a terrible start as the first two contestants were caught by Paul fairly quickly, sending them home with nothing. This was the point where fans started to share their complaints and claimed that “show bosses don’t want the players to win”.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote: “It’s so obvious ITV hates giving money away. #TheChase.” Another added: “Bradley is obviously so reluctant to give any ITV money away. #thechase.”

Meanwhile, another viewer suggested: “Is ITV running out of money? No-one seems to win on consecutive days.” But then someone else replied to point out that there was, in fact, a huge win on Tuesday evening.

“They won 66k yesterday #TheChase,” they said, but were met with more negativity as someone else replied: “I bet the bosses hated that.”

The game went from bad to worse as one more player went home too, leaving just one contestant to play alone in the Final Chase. George managed a respectable 14 questions as Bradley declared it a “great performance”.

He said that they managed to get through more than 20 questions, although some were answered incorrectly, setting an impressive pace. The ITV host said that getting through so many, especially alone, is a “rare occurrence”.
