Coronation Street viewers have brutally dubbed a jaw-dropping accident ‘the most ridiculous accident in soap history’ and ’embarrassing drivel’.

Monday’s episode of the long-standing ITV drama saw plenty of chaos – and a shocking calamity unfold.

During the recent instalment Rob Donovan, played by Marc Baylis, confronted DCI Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) while his sister Carla Connor (Alison King) sat inside an abandoned building in a hospital gown.

Lisa called Kit while the pair argued in a car, but Rob noticed and grabbed her phone before brutally hitting her head with it.

He then went to Carla and admitted he may have killed Lisa.

Carla managed to run towards him and pushed him down a staircase.

Some viewers were shocked by the stunt, with one describing the movements as ‘unnatural’ on social media.

One fan posted on X: ‘Caught the end of #coronationstreet tonight! OMG that fall down the stairs was so funny. #Corrie. Gives us Mancs a bad name.’;

‘Rob bounces off the wall in Corrie.’; ‘This is a farce……it’s beyond ridiculous and the producers and writers should be ashamed for creating this utter embarrassing drivel.’;

It comes as new photographs have been released of Ken Barlow clutching his chest and collapsed in agony teasing next week’s shocking twist in the soap.

Fans of the beloved ITV soap know pensioner Ken, played by William Roache, was victim of his carer Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) – although it remains unknown if Ken’s condition was her fault or not.

In the first look stills, Ken is captured fighting for his life as he attempts to reach his phone in visible pain as fans fear for the iconic character.

The storyline will see Cassie receive a text informing her that her new iPad is on the way, but she keeps it a secret from Steve.

When Fiz plans to head into town for some shopping, Cassie pretends she has hayfever and asks her friend to grab some antihistamines.

As she continues to take advantage of Ken, Cassie orders two juicers under his name – but it could mark the beginning of the end of her scheme.

After fobbing Fiz off, Cassie is delighted when Steve invites her for lunch at the Bistro – but moments later Ken’s eyes open, suggesting he is finally onto her.

Ken reaches to make a call on his phone but collapses in agony.
