WAIT… BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent FIGHTS TEARS after ‘Emotional Live Interview’

BBC Breakfast host Sally Nugent fought back tears after an emotional live interview on Tuesday (July 15).
During today’s edition of the hit morning programme, Sally and her co-presenter Jon Kay brought viewers up to date on the latest news from across the UK and around the world.
Carol Kirkwood was also in the studio to deliver regular weather updates, while Adam Wild presented the sports segment.
Elsewhere in the show, Sally and Jon spoke to three fathers who had each lost a daughter to suicide, and had begun a campaign for awareness to be taught in schools.
Andy Airey, Mike Palmer and Tim Owen called on the government to make lessons on dealing with suicidal thoughts and how to get help a compulsory part of the national curriculum.
The fathers, known, as the 3 Dads Walking, met Sir Keir Starmer and education secretary Bridget Phillipson last week, where they acknowledged that there was “potential for change” in schools.
Since 2021, the dads have taken part in four huge walking challenges to highlight the need for young people to learn the skills to cope with suicidal thoughts.
Their petition sparked a parliamentary debate, leading them to meet with ministers from all UK Parliaments as their campaign gathered pace.
After 1,500 miles of walking and talking, the dads finally got the news they hoped for, as the Department for Education has officially added suicide prevention to the secondary school curriculum for the first time.
On today’s BBC Breakfast, the trio reflected on their spectacular achievement, with Tim saying: “It’s emotional to realise we’ve been going for three, three and a half years of working with the government, campaigning with the government, meeting ministers, meeting various officials.
“To have it actually across the line now and be listened to, not just us but loads of other people as well, is incredible.”
Mike added their daughters Beth, Sophie and Emily were “very much on our minds today”.

At the end of the heartfelt interview, a visibly emotional Sally praised the trio, saying: “You should be very, very proud of yourselves because you’ve made a real difference. So, well done.”
BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am
