Former ABC anchor Terry Moran has boldly stated that he has “no regrets” over his controversial social media post that led to his dismissal from the news network.
The 65-year-old television personality was fired from this job at ABC News following a scathing post on X, formerly Twitter, taking aim at the Trup administration and specifically White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. And while some tried to excuse the post, claiming that he was under the influence at the time, Terry assured that this was not the case.
In an interview with The New York Times via Zoom, Terry confirmed that “It wasn’t a drunk tweet” and he meant everything he said. Describing the evening leading up to the problematic post, Terry shared that it was a “normal family night” that began with a stroll in the woods with his dog and ended with a peaceful family dinner and watching the movie Ocean’s Eleven with his wife and kids.
Leading up to his decision to fire off the scathing post, Terry shared: “I was thinking about our country, and what’s happening, and just turning it over in my mind.” After considering everything he wanted to say, Terry confirmed that he did share the now-deleted post, and that it did reflect his true feelings.

Terry said that he has never personally met Miller, but disagrees with what he stands for. Defending his actions Terry, told the Times: “I don’t think you should ever regret telling the truth. And I don’t.”
The post in question, which was shared on X on June 8, read: “The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trupism. Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trupist movement and translate them into policy. But that’s not what’s interesting about Miller. It’s not brains. It’s bile.”
He continued: “Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater. You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”
Terry concluded the post: “Trup is a world-class hater. But his hatred only a means to an end, and that end his his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment.”

After the post circulated on social media, D0nald Trup’s Vice President JD Vance demanded an apology from ABC and descried the post as “an “absolutely vile smear.” Following the controversy, ABC News fired Terry from their network and issued a public statement condemning the content of his post.
In the days following, ABC News announced: “We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran, and based on his recent post, which was a clear violation of ABC News policies, we have made the decision not to renew.”
They continued: “At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness, and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism.”
Before his departure from the network, Terry worked as ABC’s Chief Foreign Correspondent from 2013 to 2018; as co-anchor of the ABC News show Nightline from 2005 to 2013; and as Chief White House Correspondent from 1999 to 2005.
