But Oti Mabuse, 30, revealed on The One Show on Monday that she and Strictly champ Kelvin Fletcher, 36, are still in touch and that he was supportive during the last series.

Oti, who won the last series of the show for a second time with comedian Bill Bailey, 55, was asked by TV hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas: ‘Do you stay in touch?’

‘We do,’ she responded. ‘He sent me a message before the final, saying “Go and do your best, make history again”. Throughout the whole series he was really really supportive.’

It was claimed last year that Oti had begged show bosses to pair her with an older contestant on Strictly this time.

The dancer had garnered headline after being pictured on nights out with Emmerdale star Kelvin, with his arm around her waist.

Last February, Kelvin insisted ‘everything is amazing’ with his wife Liz Marsland after he was spotted having a 3.30am nightcap with Oti.

Speaking to The Sun, the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 winner said: ‘I am just a little bit bewildered by all the attention. But I am sure it will all blow over.’

In the face of the scandal, Kelvin and Liz were later spotted leaving the property they share with their children and getting into a Bentley.

Eliza looked to have put her wedding ring back on after taking the jewellery off the previous day.

Meanwhile, Kelvin was said to be ‘furious’ his ‘honour was being questioned’ after he was spotted on the night out.

A source told the Mirror at the time: ‘They were both just innocent drinks…Kelvin is furious his honour is being questioned and can prove it.’

On Monday, Oti said she missed her husband of eight years, Marius Lepure, while filming Strictly as she was placed in a bubble amid the pandemic.

She said: ‘I missed my husband this time. Professionals were in a bubble from August, we all left our families and that continued until Christmas.
