The Buffalo Bills are signing quarterback Mike White to their active roster from the practice squad.

The Bills announced the move on Friday, also disclosing the release of linebacker Nicholas Morrow.

The signing will allow the team the option of dressing three QBs for their final regular-season game, with a fixture against the New England Patriots set for this coming Sunday.

While Josh Allen will start and keep his streak of 114 starts alive, he is expected to be hooked off shortly after to rest for the playoffs. Mitch Trubisky will take over once he leaves, and Mike White could also play some snaps if he’s made active, which is the plan, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

“We hope we can get him in the game,” he said on WGR550, per the team’s official website.

Mike White Has Made A Few Stops Since Being Drafted

Mike White was a fifth-round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 but didn’t make the final roster. He bounced around the league before settling with the New York Jets, where he made some notable outings while backing up Sam Darnold and then Zach Wilson.

He joined the Miami Dolphins in 2023, serving as Tua Tagovailoa’s backup before the team parted ways with him during the 2024 offseason following a spell of limited playing time.

White joined Buffalo’s practice squad last August following his release from Miami and will now have an opportunity to play some snaps heading into the playoffs, where he could possibly be called upon again.
