A woman has been praised for her refusal to swap her pre-booked window seat on a plane with a seven year old boy – and people say they wouldn’t have done it either

A woman has received praise online for sticking to her guns and not giving up her window seat on a plane, which she booked in advance, despite pressure from a father who wanted the spot for his young son’s first flight.
The 27 year old detailed on Reddit that she specifically reserves a window seat due to an autoimmune disease that causes chronic pain, making it necessary for her to sleep undisturbed during flights.
On a six-hour journey, a man approached her, asking to switch places so his son could have a view, as it was his first time flying. She explained, “I told him no and that I paid extra to have this specific seat. He said that it’s his son’s first airplane ride and that he would really like to look out the window.”
After she declined the man’s request even offering to keep the window open and use her own eye mask the father rebuffed her compromise and wouldn’t pay the fee she had spent on the seat. Ultimately, she recalled shutting down the exchange by saying, “I put my headphones in and ignored the father.”
Throughout the flight, the persistent child led to an incident that called for the cabin crew’s involvement. She shared, “I repeatedly said no. It became such an issue the flight attendant came over. She even asked me to switch seats to keep peace but I stuck to my guns,” reports the Express US.
Conflicted after friends labeled her actions unreasonable, she turned to the internet for judgment. A supportive commenter on social media advised, “Anytime somebody starts badgering you about seat switching, immediately hit your flight attendant call button.”
“Make it clear to the flight attendant that you will be sitting in the seat that you paid for and you need them to intervene with the passenger harassing you about that.”
They continued: “Don’t engage with the passenger. Ever. Lessons learned for next time. Your friends suck.”
Another added their perspective: “You also don’t need to qualify why you wanted that seat. You chose it and you paid for it – and the reason is nobody’s business but yours.”

“If this father wanted his son to have a window seat so badly, he could have chosen and paid for one. Entitled parents unfortunately breed entitled kids. I’m sorry that you had to experience that and that the crew were so unhelpful.”
A different user contributed to the conversation, stating: “If the dad wanted his son to have a window seat so badly, dad should’ve paid for one. The kid needs to hear ‘no’ more often.”
“He’s already learned to strop get his way. Good for you for keeping the seat you paid for and had a medical need for.”
