WOW…BBC’s highest-paid salary list REVEALED in full as Stars Get Huge Pay Rises
The BBC has published its annual report revealing the salaries of its highest-paid stars, and Gary Lineker has maintained from the top spot for the eighth year running despite his departure from the broadcaster following a social media row over a pro-Palestinian video. His exit from Match of the Day in May 2025 didn’t put a dent in his earnings and the 64-year-old remained in the £1,350,000 to £1,354,999 bracket for 2024-2025. In 2022-23 he took home at least £1,350,000, which he equalled in the 2023-2024 list.
Another star maintaining their position despite leaving their role was Zoe Ball. The 53-year-old mum of two remained the Beeb’s second-highest earner despite a significant pay cut when she left the breakfast show. She is now in the £515,000 – £519,999 grade – a big drop from the minimum of £980,000 she earned in 2022-23 and the at least £950,000 she pocketed in 2023-2024 for presenting her BBC Radio 2 show.
Unsurprisingly last year’s third placed earner, disgraced newsreader Huw Edwards, has dropped off the list following his official departure from the broadcaster in April 2024 on “medical advice”.
BBC NI presenter Stephen Nolan remains high on the list in sixth place with £405,000. This is a drop of one place from last year’s list.
Other stars laughing all the way to the bank include Lineker’s Match Of The Day colleague Alan Shearer on £440,000, Radio 1 star Greg James on £425.000 and Question Time and Antiques Roadshow host Fiona Bruce on £410,000. All three received pay rises since last year’s figures.
Also getting a pay rise was BBC Breakfast’s Naga Muchetty who received a £10,000 boost taking her salary to £355,000. This only increases the disparity in pay between her and co-host Charlie Stayt who is stuck in the £190,000 bracket.
Sports presenter Mark Chapman was another who received an increase. His salary rose to £325,000 after a £65,000 increase when he took on more duties following Lineker’s departure.
Other notable big earners include Radio 2’s Vernon Kay on £390,000 and Zoe Ball’s breakfast show replacement Scott Mills on £355,000.
The BBC newsroom boasts several high earners with Radio 4’s Nick Robinson on £410,0000, Laura Kuessenberg, who presents an eponymous Sunday morning show, on £395,000 and Clive Myrie, who also preasents Mastermind, on £335,000.
While the list is extensive some famous BBC names such as Michael McIntyre and Claudia Winkleman aren’t included as the BBC does not have to disclose the salaries of stars who are paid through production companies like BBC Studios, which is classed as a commercial entity.
