Years ago, in a Fort Myers newsroom, I met a sharp, talented sports anchor named Nate Foy. Even then, it was clear he had something special—drive, charisma and the kind of focus that turns potential into success. Nate made the leap from sports to news, and then an even bigger one: to the Fox News headquarters in New York City.

It was an impressive move, but what’s been even more impressive is what came after. Though our paths only crossed briefly in Fort Myers, our connection deepened after he left. From nearly the moment he joined the network, Nate began Zooming into my Florida Gulf Coast University class—each and every semester. For about an hour, he offered students an unfiltered look at what it really takes to thrive as a network journalist. He spoke honestly about the highs, the challenges and everything in between.
