Good Morning America’s Biggest Scandals Over the Years: Amy Robach, T.J. Holmes, More

Daytime drama. Good Morning America was rocked with its latest scandal after PDA-packed photos of cohosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes – both of whom are still legally married to their respective spouses – were published on November 30, 2022.

The snaps – some of which were taken on November 10 and originally shared by the Daily Mail – show Robach and Holmes smiling and cozying up to one another in a bar, while another showed the pair walking to their car together.

Three days later, a separate picture showed the casually dressed GMA stars getting handsy, with Holmes grabbing Robach’s backside as she appeared to load some items in the trunk of their vehicle. In another set of photos taken on November 28, the pair were seen crossing the street and getting in an Uber together, where they held hands in the backseat.

Though neither party has conf1rmed nor denied their rumored romance, Robach – who wed Andrew Shue in 2010 – has been seen without her wedding ring. Shue also deleted all photos of Robach on his Instagram shortly after the scandalous photos surfaced. Immigration attorney Marilee Fiebig, whom Holmes also wed in 2010, has so far stayed silent on the matter.

“Amy and T.J. will be making it off1cial,” an insider told In Touch in December 2022 about the cohosts’ rumored romance. “They’re not hiding it because it’s no longer a secret and they weren’t cheating on their spouses.”

While another source told In Touch that Holmes and Robach’s alleged romance is an “HR nightmare” and that the show is “desperately trying to f1gure out how to handle” the situation, the pair’s speculated romance is far from the f1rst time Good Morning America staffers have been embroiled in controversy both on and off the air.

News veteran George Stephanopoulos has also found himself in hot water a few times over the course of his lengthy career, and even beloved pop culture expert Lara Spencer has had to apologize on-air for mistakes she’s made.

From lawsuits and on-air quips to rumored feuds behind closed doors, keep scrolling to read all about some of GMA’s biggest scandals over the years.

Kirstyn Crawford and Michael Corn

Former Good Morning America producer Kirstyn Crawford accused her then-boss, Michael Corn, of sexual assault, per a 2021 report from The Wall Street Journal. While speaking to TV writer Jay Carson – who, at the time, was doing research to develop the Apple+ original series, The Morning Show – in November 2017, Crawford alleged that Corn had sexually assaulted her in an Uber and in a hotel room when the pair were on a work trip to Los Angeles two years prior. She also alleged that Corn created a “hostile work environment,” per NBC News.

Crawford f1led a lawsuit in New York in August 2021, which also alleged that Corn had assaulted former ABC News producer Jill McClain on two separate business trips in 2010 and 2011.

Corn adamantly denied the allegations. Judge Barbara Jaffe tossed the lawsuit in June 2022, writing that the three-year statute of limitations on the sexual assault allegations had passed. She also noted that while Corn’s behavior was “boorish, ill-advised and inappropriate,” he did not “create a hostile work environment.”

Rumors of tension between longtime GMA hosts Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos began to swirl after Roberts allegedly shaded Stephanopoulos during a team-wide call discussing Crawford’s lawsuit in August 2021. “If this happened to someone on my team, I would have burned the place down,” Roberts reportedly told staffers, per the Daily Beast.

Stephanopoulos and Crawford worked closely together at the time. The Wall Street Journal reported that Morning Show writer Carson relayed to Stephanopoulos what Crawford had told him in 2017, and that the veteran anchor had passed the information along to top ABC executives. However, according to the Daily Beast, the “chaotic” workplace environment in wake of lawsuit allegedly raised questions about who knew what about the allegations and when they knew them, and whether enough was done.

The GMA co-anchor was in hot water with viewers after she seemingly made fun of Prince George, who was 6 years old at the time, for taking ballet lessons in August 2019. After the backlash she received, Lara admitted on-air that she “screwed up” and issued an apology.

“The comment I made about dance was stupid and insensitive and I am deeply sorry,” the Flea Market Flip host said. “I spoke with several members of the dance community over the last few days. I have listened. I have learned about the bravery that it takes for a young boy to pursue a career in dance.”
