Fox News viewers were left unimpressed after a guest on Sean Hannity’s show opted to blame “bystander apathy” for the sh..t1ng in New York City committed by a man from Las Vegas.
Hannity and other Fox News hosts devoted a large portion of their broadcasts monday night to the sh..t1ng, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. after 27-year-old Shane Tamura entered the office building at 345 Park Avenue, where Blackstone and the NFL are headquartered, and opened fire with an AR-15 rifle. He K four people before fatally sh..t1ng h1mself.
During Hannity’s coverage of the “brazen act of v10lence,” he brought on retired NYPD officer Bull Stanton as a guest.
He made his remarks after images surfaced showing Tamura walking into the building with the rifle displayed at his side in plain sight, saying that bystanders needed to be more aggressive with stopping these things as well.

“We see it again,” he said. “And there’s talk of more police officers. There’s talk of, you know, more omnipresence…But we need to deputize ourselves.”
“Sean, let’s take you as an example. My understanding is you train really hard in MMA. I’m guessing you train with your firearm, as well,” he continued.
After Hannity confirmed he did, Stanton added, “We each need to empower ourselves not to be a victim. Bystander apathy is what occurred, is the term used as this gentleman walked–this cretin walked with a long g::n down the street.”

“No one said anything. I’d be curious to see how many 9-1-1 calls were made,” he continued. “We need to empower ourselves, deputize ourselves.”
However, many disagreed, calling out that certain skills wouldn’t hold up in that situation – and many blasted that Hannity himself would have been no help.
“MMA fighting won’t do much against an AR-15,” one person said on X (formerly Twitter).
“Sure-Sean Hannity would have run up and given him a round kick,” another wrote.
“Hannity would have absolutely ran away,” a third commented.

“Dumb take of the night. Sean Hannity would’ve ran for cover not jump into action,” a fourth added. “I’m not expecting an elderly lady to disarm a 27-year-old with an assault weapon.”
Another said that they said Tamura had been walking on the streets, pointing out he had parked his car directly in front of the building before approaching it. Another also said that others may have noticed and called for help – but took safety precautions before doing so.
“I’m sure lots of people called 911 they senseably [sp] got to safety first,” the person said.
