BEHIND THE CURTAIN: Former Emmerdale Star REVEALS PAINFUL Truth About ACCEPTING THE ROLE She never wanted the job—but how did one argument change her career path forever?

A former Emmerdale star has swiped that she only ‘settled’ for the soap role after a row with her agent.

Suzanne Shaw, 43, shot to stardom back in 2000 in pop band Hear’Say with Danny Foster, Myleene KlassKym Marsh, and Noel Sullivan.

However, when the group split two years later, the singer decided to move into acting instead and in 2010, secured a role in ITV‘s Emmerdale.

Suzanne played Eve Birch, who was the granddaughter of Edna Birch, but only stayed in the role for a year.

The star revealed on her Substack how she had an argument with her agent who thought she was being ‘ungrateful for the opportunities they had lined up,’ claiming that she wanted to ‘give pilot season a go’ rather than the soap.

She wrote: ‘I’ll never forget sitting in a restaurant with one of the biggest agents in the industry, who was my agent at the time (no names needed). He shouted at me – actually shouted loud enough for those dining in the restaurant to hear.

‘Calling me ungrateful for the opportunities they had lined up and saying why do artists not just settle for what is handed to them. Perhaps he was right?’

Suzanne shared how she was ‘young’ and ‘had a big plan, a dream’.

‘I wanted to give pilot season a go instead of going into Emmerdale. That’s what the disagreement was about,’ she added.

The star acknowledged that Emmerdale was ‘a huge deal’ and credited the show for teaching her a lot, but she still had a desire to try something else.

‘But I didn’t. Not because I changed my mind but because I thought it was best to settle for the opportunity before me – plus I was too anxious to not go along with the advice so strongly given,’ she went on.

Suzanne added: ‘From that moment on, I stopped daring to dream big. I stopped asking for what I really wanted, in case I was seen as ungrateful again, too much and too ambitious. I started to lower my expectations, shirk my ambitions and settle for less.’

She shared last year her surprise career move focused on health and wellbeing.

The Hearsay singer celebrated four years of sobriety as she said she made a promise to herself on January, 4, 2020 to stop drinking alcohol.

The blonde beauty revealed to New Magazine that she has ditched stardom for her new job as an alcohol-free coach after she spent years battling with alcohol dependence.

Suzanne, who has enjoyed success as an actor appearing on Emmerdale, told New magazine: ‘I help people get through sobriety and help them on their wellness journey, so that’s what I do now as a job.’

‘It wasn’t healthy, and it wasn’t something that was going to benefit my life. I didn’t have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol, it just wasn’t for me’, the Manchester actress and singer added.
