But Savannah Guthrie, 51, and Hoda Kotb, 59 had NBC viewers in stitches after accidentally sharing an NSFW joke during a segment of the 2023 Macy’s Day Parade.

When the Tom Turkey float began its journey toward Macy’s on the parade route Thursday, the Australian-American journalist asked her co-star what it was like earlier in the day to take a ride on the massive float.

“How was it riding on Tom?” Savannah asked Hoda – who was filmed on the giant balloon toward the beginning of the parade.

The former Dateline host quickly quipped back: “Oh my God, it was such a cool, unique perspective being atop the turkey right there. You have a great view of the crowd and the route. It was incredible.”

The pair of TV professionals were not overtly phased by the NSFW comment, but they were left giggling after the encounter.

Savannah and Hoda ended up in a fit of laughter by the end of the segment, with the former saying: “That is a vantage point that you don’t often get to see.”

FAN COMMENTS

Fans on Twitter were stunned by the hilarious mistake, taking to the platform to call the ladies out on the blunder.

“So Savannah Guthrie just asked Hoda ‘How was it riding on Tom?’ And she was talking about the Tom the Turkey float but my immature butt can’t stop laughing,” one wrote.

“Best part of the parade. Savannah: ‘So, Hoda, how was riding on Tom?’ Hoda: …..” a second laughed.

“Lol please stop I’m crying over ‘Hoda how was it riding on Tom’ Turkey,” a third repeated.

“This Thanksgiving Parade is unhinged. From Savannah asking Hoda how it was ‘riding Tom The Turkey’ to the jolly green giant float being called a ‘daddy,'” a fourth trolled.

“She asked her ‘How was riding on Tom’ and Hoda started fumbling all her words,” a final joked.

MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade returned today for the 97th edition of the festive holiday celebration.

It has entertained millions over the decades and was only canceled once during the Second World War.

The parade’s history dates back to 1924 – two years after R. H. Macy & Co. stores opened for the first time.

The only time the Thanksgiving parade was canceled was from 1942 to 1944.

There was a helium and rubber shortage during World War II, which meant the celebration had to be put on hold.

Amid the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the parade still went ahead.

But, few spectators were allowed to attend and there was no Macy’s Balloon Inflation Celebration or marching bands.

This year, beloved characters like Snoopy and SpongeBob SquarePants took to the skies above The Big Apple.

Among the stars performing was Cher, who just released her first Christmas album.

The Oscar, Emmy, and Grammy Award-winner had a prime spot — performing just before the arrival of Santa Claus, which marks the end of the parade.

Other big names in the world of music and showbiz include Jon Batiste, Bell Biv DeVoe, Brandy, Jessie James Decker, Pentatonix, and Miss America 2023 Grace Stanke.

The parade also included performances from the casts of some Broadway shows.

“It’s going to be a magical experience, an experience full of spectacle, full of entertainment, full of joy, full of celebration,” said Will Coss, executive producer of the parade.
