Kendrick Lamar will have some familiar company during his performance at the upcoming Super Bowl LIX.
Lamar is set to take center stage at the Super Bowl halftime show next month, and according to a promotional clip shared via his social media accounts, former label mate SZA will tag along.
The video, shown below, features the “Not Like Us” artist speaking to someone on his phone while walking on a football field, revealing plans to bring another singer to the Big Game.
“I’ve been thinking about a guest performer,” he’s heard saying before SZA appears and spills a blue drink on him from a cooler.
“Catch @kendricklamar with guest @sza. #AppleMusicHalftime #SBLIX,” the post reads.
Kendrick Lamar And SZA Have History
Kendrick and SZA have collaborated often in the past. She features in two songs on his album, ‘GNX,’ while he’s in her song “30 for 30” on the album ‘Lana.’
Kendrick Lamar was named the halftime performer shortly after his beef with fellow artist Drake last year. The decision came as a surprise to many, including New Orleans native Lil Wayne, who has vented about being snubbed on at least a few occasions.
The performance will be Lamar’s second following his appearance when Dr. Dre brought the likes of Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and 50 Cent to the halftime show in Los Angeles in 2022.
