ABC Slams Rumors About Feud Between GMA’s Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos: ‘Ridiculous’

ABC is shutting down rumors of a feud between Good Morning America costars George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts.

After Breaker Media published a report claiming that the costars had a “chilly” relationship on the show’s set and that George, 64, liked to “play chess” on his phone rather than “talking to” or “looking at” Robin, 64, ABC was quick to slam the claims.

“This is unfounded, ridiculous gossip designed to get clicks and nothing more,” an ABC spokesperson told The U.S. Sun in a statement on March 21 after the feud rumors surfaced.

Additionally, a source close to the situation told DailyMail.com that George and Robin “have a great relationship on set and behind the scenes.”

In fact, in April 2022, when Robin celebrated her 20-year anniversary of being a GMA cohost, George shared some sweet words about his colleague’s journey on the show.

“Robin is the heart of GMA. She has a special connection to the audience, and all of us. I’m always feeling, if I could be half the woman she is … and I don’t think anyone comes close, always bringing endless energy and two dazzling decades of dancing,” the former political advisor said at the time.

Robin had nothing but positive things to say about her time working on the talk show.

“I am incredibly grateful and truly humbled. … It’s been wonderful,” she said during the celebratory episode of GMA. “To be with you all … I am so abundantly blessed. I don’t know how this happened. I’m just really grateful at this moment.”

Others also spoke out to praise Robin for her work in the journalism field after two decades on GMA.

“Robin and I were sometimes Lucy and Ethel, dancing in the grapes,” former GMA cohost Diane Sawyer said. “And sometimes we were Thelma and Louise, ready for any adventure. And we were pioneers, as two women coanchoring the broadcast.”

GMA’s Sam Champion said that Robin was “so easy to be with.”

“Most people who are on camera hold a part of themselves in reserve and give a version of them. As well as I know her, you know her just as I know her,” the meteorologist said.

Robin also had a plaque placed in Times Square with her name on it, a location that held a special significance for her.

“I was standing in this spot when we were told we were No. 1. I have felt No. 1 from day one of these 20 years, working with all of you,” the newscaster said while getting emotional over the honor. “This is a drop-the-mic moment.”

GMA also has some big news to celebrate as the Paley Center for Media announced that the program will be receiving the Paley Honors Award as the show gears up to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year.

“The Paley Honors Award, presented by The Paley Center for Media, is the organization’s highest honor,” the official website said. “The Paley Honors recognizes individuals whose groundbreaking achievements in media have consistently set the bar for excellence.”

“As the show celebrates its 50th anniversary, it continues to evolve while maintaining its reputation as one of the most trusted voices in media,” the website said.
