Actor Jamie Borthwick is reportedly “attempting to right wrongs in my life,” after being suspended by the BBC. The Jay Brown star was dismissed after using an offensive word to describe Blackpool locals during his 2024 stint on Strictly Come Dancing, which he has since apologised for. The EastEnders star is believed to have referred to the residents as “m*******” in a video which was subsequently sent to the BBC.

Many fans were left disappointed as Blackpool’s Tower Ballroom is commonly referred to as Strictly’s second home. After making headlines, Brown issued a grovelling apology for causing “any offence and upset” after using the word. In an attempt to keep his long-running job at Albert Square, which he first landed in 2006 aged 12, Brown is reportedly set to meet the show’s bosses.

According to reports via The Sun, the star has reflected on the “decisions that have led me here,” and its still “not clear” if he will keep his job.

He is said to have told an ex-partner: “I accept the k@rma that has come my way due to some bad choices,” adding: “Had I the opportunity to turn the clock back I would do so and do everything differently.”

Brown reportedly went on to say he is “attempting to right the wrongs in my life” and “want to sincerely apologise for the mistakes I made and for hurting you and how I handled the whole situation.”

Earlier this month, in a statement to The Sun on Sunday, the actor said: “I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly. I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused.”
