BREAKING NEWS: Robin Roberts and Lara Spencer embrace and BREAK DOWN in Tears on air after receiving Sh0cking News from the Hospital, leaving the crew and viewers stunned!

Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer cry on 'GMA' over $400 million cancer gift

Robin Roberts got emotional during a Good Morning America segment that hit close to home.

During a December 12 taping of GMA, Robin and fellow anchor Lara Spencer got a chance to honor the staff at the Memorial Sloan Kettering C@ncer Center (MSK), one of the leading hospitals for c@ncer research in New York City. In addition to doctors, nurses and even two former patients, who now work at the center, the hosts were joined by entrepreneur Kenneth C. Griffin, who was named one of the United States’ Most Generous Givers by Forbes in 2023. Kenneth revealed to MSK’s CEO Dr. Selwyn Vickers, that he and music mogul David Geffen, were donating $400 million to the hospital. When Dr. Vickers was presented with the check, Robin was in tears after learning the donation was the most ever given in the hospital’s 150-year history.

“I hope you feel the emotion from everybody that is here,” she said tearfully. “There’s nobody that has not been impacted, both personally and with family and friends and things like that. It’s impacted everybody.”

As many viewers know, Robin was diagnosed with breast c@ncer in 2007, and later announced she was in remission. But less than a decade later, the journalist revealed she was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare blood and bone marrow disease that required a transplant. She underwent the procedure, and will celebrate 12 years of remission in February 2024.

When GMA fans saw how touched Robin was by the segment, they immediately rushed to the comments to share their support. “I am a C@ncer survivor too. I can understand the emotion of this donation ❤️❤️,” one person wrote on YouTube. “I love this ❤️❤️,” another agreed. “Thank you so much for this huge donation 🙏,” a different viewer added.

Dr. Vickers went on to say how the money would be allocated. According to him, MSK plans to use the funds to build new facilities that help expand the care for patients who are battling c@ncer.
