The recovery process was very hard on her and the Strahan family, and the NFL has provided constant updates about the process.

This week, he sat down with his daughters for PEOPLE to discuss the scary illness.

Strahan revealed that Isabella was never depressed during the process and was always determined to beat her disease.

“There were times where she got emotional about it and it kind of hit her,” he said.

“But I wouldn’t say you were depressed. I think there were some depressing moments you had.

“I think overall one of the things she said to me, probably the hardest thing I ever had to hear, was ‘dad I’ll do whatever I just want to live.

“You said that and it shocked me. Usually, I cry when I tell people that but I’m trying to hold it together for you.

“That was like a “wow” moment, but it was also a reassuring moment because she wouldn’t quit. She was going to fight, and she did.”

Isabella first experienced symptoms in 2023 as a college freshman at USC.

She was dealing with nausea, dizziness, and debilitating headaches.

After confiding in her sister, it was Sophia who first told her parents about Isabella’s illness.

“I was the one who told our parents first,” Sophia said.

“Because Isabella called and said she was throwing up blood.”

After going to the ER, Isabella learned she had a growing tumor in the cerebellum part of her brain.

She had surgery to remove the tumor and underwent treatment, and now goes for regular scans to ensure she remains healthy.
