Viewers of Fox News got a surprise on Tuesday afternoon when a guest on The Will Cain Show showed such a striking resemblance to Jesse Watters that some briefly believed the Primetime host had made an unexpected daytime appearance.

The guest was David Marcus, a columnist for Fox News Digital, who appeared alongside Fox Business correspondent Charles Gasparino to discuss U.S. trade policy and the political consequences of America’s economic strategy toward China.

The conversation, opened by host Will Cain, quickly turned from finance to politics.

Marcus sported a hairstyle nearly identical to Watters’, prompting confusion online and among casual viewers. Once he began to speak, it was clear the resemblance ended with the haircut.

Marcus offered his views in a more understated tone than Watters is known for, aligning closely with the populist messaging of former President Donald Tr::ump.

Cain posed the idea that Tr::ump supporters may be willing to accept short-term financial setbacks if it means longer-term benefits for small-town America.

Marcus backed the suggestion, pointing to recent conversations he’d had with residents in economically depressed areas.

“I was in a little town called Charleroi, Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago,” Marcus said, “and in the little downtown shopping area, 80% of the storefronts are vacant.”

“Basically the only two types of stores that are still there are places where you can send money to another country or bodegas that sell goat meat and foreign groceries. About half of the houses were completely abandoned; and, inexplicably, our federal government’s answer for this place — just like in Springfield, Ohio — was to dump 9,000 Haitian migrants, who do not assimilate, into their town.”

He continued by connecting the issue to national politics and voter sentiment.

“Donald Tr::ump is the first major politician for 30 years — since H. Ross Perot — to take this very real problem seriously, because it’s not just Charleroi; it’s Cleveland, Texas; it’s Springfield, Ohio; it’s all over the country.”

“And so yeah, they’re in this for the long haul, and if they have to pay a little more at Walmart, from what they tell me, they’re going to do it.”
