Rashee Rice – From injury to legal chaos – Chiefs face the risk of a disastrous season despite having Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce! Cut him loose decisively, or do the Chiefs have no other choice?
Following their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, it became quite clear what the Kansas City Chiefs needed to work on in the offseason. The offense let them down against a superior Eagles team, with the offensive line and wide receivers particularly exposed. The latter position went through an incredible amount of adversity in 2024, which affected Patrick Mahomes‘ performance, but Rashee Rice’s season-ending knee injury was the true k:ller.
Before going down in Week 4, Rice had played like a Top 5 wideout in the league. His stat line through the first three weeks of the season was 24/288/2. Rice had been playing with a possible suspension looming over his head, stemming from a h1t-and-run car cr@sh in March of 2024. The unresolved case and knee injury meant Rice’s 2025 season was now in limbo. But a decision on a suspension by the NFL is yet to come, and Rice has been spotted on the practice field, which has Chiefs fans excited.

There was a turn of events on Friday, though. Rice was h1t with a third lawsuit stemming from the high-speed c:r@sh, with plaintiff Kayla Quinn alleging that she and her son sustained mental and physical in:jur1es because their car was h1t during the incident. Quinn is reportedly seeking between $250,000 and $1 million in damages.

It’s another headache for Rice, as he’s still yet to answer for the multiple cr1m3s he’s been charged with. He may now be forced to fork over more cash than expected, while also seeing a potential suspension by the league get longer. That said, another lawsuit could delay his suspension even longer, as the league could choose to wait for all of them to settle before making a decision.
There’s no guessing when Rice could hear about a potential suspension. There has been no indication from the league on when it may be handed out. But as the days pass by, it becomes clearer that Rice could go another season free of one. The question remains whether he’ll be healthy or not for Week 1.
