For years, Roku City has been shown in no more than 720p despite the streaming service offering 4K resolution and selling 4K Roku TVs.

Now, Roku has sharpened the screen saver and updated its already-celebrated design.

The town still has the same vaporwave vibe, with lush purples and sunset oranges spilling from the skyline.

However, Roku users will notice some extra infrastructure added to the virtual town, as a train station can now be seen.

As the scene scrolls, viewers will notice other new developments, such as a barber shop, bus station, and party boat on the water.

Couples fill shining restaurants on the main street, and parked cars can be seen left abandoned by visitors.

The savvy designers have also drawn in several easter eggs.

One X user noticed a bike with a crate attached to the front, which appeared to be a reference to Steven Spielberg’s E.T.

An open garage door underneath one home shows a car that’s strikingly similar to the Ectomobile in Ghostbusters.

There’s a massive fraternity house with a football player statue in front, giving a shout-out to all the college ball fans.

But not everything has changed, and Roku viewers will find some familiar faces like hitchhiking Santa.

Billboards plastered around the city inform viewers to press the star button to learn about original Roku content and Roku Zones.

Roku Zones are collections of different content designed to help viewers find their next favorite show or movie.

All you have to do is select the genre you’re in the mood for, and Roku will show some of the most beloved options.

There’s plenty to see in the new Roku City. Now, you might not even have to watch anything else to be entertained.

Roku fans also might not know they can automatically fine-tune their picture settings in five easy steps.

If you go to the expert picture settings, Roku will scan your TV and alter audiovisual options such as color temperature, white balance, and gamma sensitivity.

To access the EPS menu, you first must press the star button on your Roku remote.

Then go to picture settings, then customize picture more, and then finally select expert settings.

Roku users may also not know there’s a hack that adds 500 live TV channels to their network – and it’s completely legal.

What is Roku?

The company is best known as a popular provider of free, ad-supported streaming television – or SMART TV for short.

Roku, Inc. was founded in 2002 by Anthony Wood, an English-born businessman who relocated to the United States as a teenager.

Wood wanted to help TV fans watch what they wanted when they wanted and came up with the idea of a TV operating system with access to online content.

Roku released its first product in 2008 – a streaming box called the Roku DVP, which sold 10 million units in just six days.

The company’s hardware is compatible with any TV that has an HDMI connection. This means virtually anyone can access the streamer’s growing body of content.

Each player comes with a Roku remote to navigate on-screen menus and control playback.

The company also licenses its operating system to television manufacturers like Toshiba and Hisense to create Roku-branded TVs.\

The streamer has steadily been expanding its portfolio on The Roku Channel.

It boasts free content from over 250 partners, including live news from networks like NBC, Fox, and CBS.

The ever-growing library boasts over 350 live TV channels and 80,000 free movies and shows.
