Si King has announced his first major solo project since the d3ath of his Hairy Bikers’ co-star Dave Myers. Dave sadly passed away in February last year at the age of 66 after a two-year battle with cnc3r. Now, the Geordie TV chef is going it alone in a brand-new TV series with Channel 4.

The upcoming four-part series is set to focus on a railway adventure and has been tentatively titled Top of the Stops. Fans will see Si delve into the huge network of over 2,600 train stations up and down the country.

The dad-of-four will engage with various individuals who work hard to keep the hubs running smoothly for commuters across the UK.

In the absence of his best friend, Si will be joined by transport historian Siddy Holloway and architect Damion Burrows on his journey as the trio visit some of the UK’s most iconic and unique train stations.

Speaking about the upcoming series, Channel 4’s senior commissioning editor for lifestyle, Clemency Green, excitedly gushed: “As the rail network turns 200 years old, this series will spotlight the best of our country’s engineering history in a different way.

“We’re honoured Si will be presenting his first series for More4, and Yeti will no doubt deliver a captivating series that viewers will love to escape into.”

Following the loss of his best friend and co-star, Si appeared in a final Hairy Bikers program called The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Walk Alone, which aired on BBC Two back in December 2024.

But this isn’t the first time the chef has gone solo since his co-star passed after 20 years of working together. Earlier this year, Si joined This Morning as a regular chef on their cooking segments.

Ahead of You’ll Never Walk Alone airing last year, Si told press at the time about his television future following Dave’s d3ath. He revealed: “It would be different because you know that was Dave and I.

“He’s no longer with us so no it would have to be different. I would want it to be different.” Si went on to joke that he would have to see what projects the BBC would trust him with next.

He added: “Of course it would be different but what I’m really proud of is the legacy that Dave’s left.” Speaking about the importance of honouring his best friend’s legacy, Si said: “The grief, it comes and goes.

“But it’s important that I honour the Biker’s legacy and it’s important that I also do stuff that I want to do still. Dave was very, very clear and adamant – as I would want for him if the show was on the other foot.”

Dave first announced he was receiving treatment for cnc3r in May 2022 but didn’t specify what type he had been diagnosed with. He was married to Liliana Orzac, whom he met while the Hairy Bikers were filming in the heart of Romania.

The couple lived together in Kent before moving to Staffordshire in 2023, just months before he tragically d13d. He was also a doting stepfather to her children Iza and Sergiu, from a previous relationship.
