Whoopi Goldberg is weighing in on why she thinks some people want to see The View taken off the air, admitting on a recent episode that some likely want to see it gone because of blanketed assumptions about the women on the panel and their viewpoints.
The show, which has been on a hiatus for a Spring break, is known for its hosts facing criticism over their differing viewpoints, with many more recently slamming Alyssa Farah Griffin, who they have referred to as a “Trump whisperer” who has said that the administration is just guilty of “inconsistent messaging.”
Unsurprisingly, both those who are critical of views like Griffin’s and the ones expressed by Democrat Goldberg, have called for the show to be taken off the air over the years.
Now, Goldberg is addressing the criticisms.
In an episode where the panelists discussed California Governor Gavin Newsom’s controversial podcast, Goldberg addressed the critiques they received.

“People believe that they know everything I think and believe. They don’t,” she said. “But one of the ways that you learn what people believe is to hear them talk. One of the things that people would love to see is, people are always saying, ‘You should take The View off television.’ You know why? Because we give you an opportunity. We don’t tell you what to think.”
“We say, ‘This is what I think!’ Alyssa will say, ‘This is what I think.’ Joy will say, ‘This is what I think.’ And when we do that, that is how you have the dialogue. It’s not personal, you know?” she continued.
“Sometimes somebody will say, ‘That shirt looks a little tight on you, Whoopi,’ but that’s not a bad thing!”
“But it becomes an awful thing when people become personal about you or your family,” she concluded. “See, that’s the difference. We don’t do that here. Other people do it to us, and would like to think that’s what we’re doing to them. But we’re not.”

Goldberg’s comments were made concerning the current lineup of panelists–which includes herself and Griffin, as well as Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, and Sunny Hostin.
Other hosts over the years who have been opinionated about their times on the show, have included Raven-Symone, Candace Cameron-Bure and Meghan McCa
