Cat Deeley and her estranged husband Patrick Kielty tied the knot in 2012 but in a statement issued on Tuesday (July 29) the couple announced their separation. It read: “We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.” Cat, 48, and Patrick, 54, had gone public with their relationship just four months before they said ‘I do’ in a whirlwind Italian wedding back in 2012.
The TV presenters met while co-hosting Fame Academy in 2002, however their romantic relationship didn’t begin until 10 years later. Patrick revealed the couple both had partners but “there was a wee vibe there”. The two stayed in contact over the years and often exchanged ‘Happy Birthdays’ on their respective days. It was during a celebration at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Cat had suggested he come along, and the self-confessed hopeless romantic bolted from the pub in County Down and jumped on the next flight to LA to surprise her. Cat admitted the grand gesture worked a treat and she “slightly fell in love with him” in that moment.

Patrick and Cat are proud parents to two sons, Milo, eight and James, five. The family have resided in London since 2020 after spending 15 years in the US.
In May, the This Morning presenter stunned viewers with a shock bedroom confession.

She said: “It’s one of those things that because of our schedule here [This Morning], from Monday to Thursday I sleep in the guest bedroom and the rest of the time I’m back.
“Because otherwise I get up at 5am and I want to fall asleep earlier.”
Meanwhile, Cat was noticeably absent from her mother-in-law’s funeral which was held in March.
Patrick carried his mum Mary’s coffin through his home village, where he was joined by close family and friends at the Church of the Sacred Heart.

Cat remained in London where she presented This Morning.
A spokesperson for Cat explained the real reason she didn’t attend the burial held in honour of Patrick’s late mother was to be present for her two sons, Milo and James before and after they finished school.
They said: “Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.”
Patrick’s mother, who was in her 80s, died at her home in the village of Dundrum
