In their place, BBC One is airing BBC News Special: Air India Plane Crash, where presenter Maryam Moshiri will host special coverage of the tragedy.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner collided with a medical college shortly after taking off on Thursday, creating a huge fireball.

British man Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, 40, is believed to be the only survivor of the cr@sh.

Vishwash, who claims that he was in seat 11A of the Gatwick-bound flight when it took off from Ahmedabad on Thursday, suffered “impact injuries” on his chest, eyes and feet. He said that 30 seconds after take-off there was “a loud noise” before the plane cr@shed.

He said: “It all happened so quickly.” He added that he was in India for a few days to visit his family and was heading back to the UK with his brother Ajay Kumar Ramesh, 45.

Among those who have tragically di3d are three Brits – Akeel Nanabawa, his wife Hannaa and their four-year-old daughter Sara.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Gloucester Muslim Community paid tribute to the family. They said: “During this moment of overwhelming sorrow, our hearts go out to all those left behind.

“No words can truly ease the pain of such a profound loss, but we pray that the family may find solace in the tremendous outpouring of compassion and solidarity from communities across the world. May their cherished memories provide comfort, and may they rest in eternal peace.”
