Nikki Glaser plans to treat Taylor Swift with kindness while hosting the 2025 Golden Globes, learning a less from Joy Koy’s crass words toward the pop star.
Jo Koy’s name is forever associated with a diss at Taylor Swift, but Nikki Glaser promises not to follow his lead.
During the 81st Golden Globe Awards, Jo was tapped to host the extravagant event, but fumbled his duties in the eyes of the public. “The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL?” he said. “At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift.”
Taylor, who was in attendance, reacted neutrally, taking a long swig from her drink and hiding the emotions on her face. The diss, though, was the sort of issue she previously had addressed, so fans knew she wasn’t bothered by the “dads, Brads, and Chads” who disliked her appearances at football games, according to her interview for Time Magazine’s 2023 Person of the Year.
Nonetheless, social media was set ablaze with anger, leaving Jo’s legacy defined by the momenet. Nikki, who is set to host the 2025 awards, vowed not to make the same mistake. “There will be no jokes made at her expense,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Her hosting strategy, instead, takes a much different turn. She explained, “I have to say who I am first. I have to be a little softer and more self-deprecating. Because I’m not as well-known, I can’t just come out swinging. They’ll be like, ‘Who is this lady and why does she think she has a right to talk to us this way?’ I can’t come in with the same annihilating venom as I did at the Tom Brady roast. With status comes the ability to punch harder.”
In fact, Nikki is very aware of her role in Hollywood, not quite yet at the A-lister status. She added that, without the hosting gig, she wouldn’t even be able to make it through the venue doors. After all, the Golden Globes’ guest list is quite selective as the stars eye coveted seats, nominations, and awards.
While most of the guest list is kept under wraps until the big day, the hosts and presenters are public information ahead of time. The 2025 Golden Globes presenters list include Ariana DeBose, Viola Davis, Kate Hudson and Auliʻi Cravalho.
