Coronation Street stars Tony Maudsley and Jane Hazlegrove have shared heartfelt tributes to their beloved co-star Katy Cavanagh following the emotional departure of her character, Julie Carp. In scenes that moved fans to tears, Julie — who had been battling a terminal illness — spent her final moments in peace and comfort, enjoying a serene lakeside picnic with her sister, Eileen Grimshaw. The touching storyline marked the end of a poignant chapter, and both Tony and Jane praised Katy’s powerful performance and the emotional weight she brought to her farewell scenes.
When Eileen left their picnic spot to grab something from the refreshment van, she returned to find her sister Julie unresponsive on the ground.
Julie actor Katy Cavanagh returned to the cobbles earlier this year as part of her on-screen sister Eileen’s exit storyline after nearly ten years away from the soap.
She first joined Corrie back in 2008 after enjoying a holiday romance with Kirk Sutherland. Following a rollercoaster time on the soap, Julie left Weatherfield in 2015.
