A Place In The Sun presenter Craig Rowe ended up in hospital with serious burns following a simple accident at home with a cup of tea! The property expert, 53, took to Instagram to detail the incident and warn his followers not to make the same mistake he did. In a series of clips on his stories he explained: “I’m in bed with my foot elevated because I burned my ankle pretty badly on Saturday (November 15)… I made a nice cup of mint tea… and managed to trip over the rug and spill mint tea all over my leg.
“And this… is the consequence of that,” he said. “I won’t show you the actual burn, but it was deep and it was really painful. I didn’t know what to do, so I put it straight in ice, and then I Googled it, and it (said not to do that). So I put it into cold water, called 111, and they said I have to go to hospital to get it looked at.
“So off to St Thomas’s I went to where brilliant nurses cleaned up the burn and dressed it for me… How amazing is our NHS, the fact we’ve got access to these amazing people when we have accidents or mishaps in life,” he gushed.
However that wasn’t the end of the issue as he had to return a couple of days later to have the dressing changed and he was shocked by just how bad it still was saying: “Who knew a cup of mint tea could be so lethal?”
“I’m not gonna lie, I was pretty shocked. I don’t want to go into too many details because you might be a bit squeamish, but I just thought it was gonna look better than it did. It still looked quite deep into the skin, like layers of skin have been removed, and quite, quite raw.
“So I’m up in bed with the foot elevated. And the nurse (said): “Look, you can start to move around a bit more now, but ideally you need to keep it elevated as much as possible.”

Fitness fanatic Craig revealed he has also been banned from the gym as he was told “don’t get it sweaty, don’t don’t move it too much, don’t stand on it too much” in order to avoid swelling.
Issuing a warning to people he said: “I hope by me sharing this, it will just give some awareness of burns in general. I didn’t realise it was such a big thing to get water on your skin, hot water. I just didn’t realise i it could be as serious as it was, maybe naively.
“We all do these things, don’t we? Every day, we make a cup of tea, carry a cup of tea across the room. Don’t think anything of it. And, you know, obviously our minds are going 1000 miles an hour and you can trip… these things are so easy, and obviously you can’t prevent accidents.
“But I think it’s just having an awareness when you’re walking around with scalding hot tea… just take care, and watch your step.”
