Caleb grew suspicious of Joe Tate in Emmerdale tonight (Wednesday, April 16), putting two and two together as Noah shared the story of his spiking. Cogs whirring as Joe panicked over a missing coat, Caleb began to realise that Joe might be up to something.
And, as Dawn agonised about what to do about the two men in her life, she finally made her choice. But can she go through with telling Billy that she’s leaving him?
Elsewhere, John apologised to Aaron over his outburst yesterday, and Jacob and Charity were left looking like fools over Kammy.

Caleb played detective in Emmerdale tonight
Home Farm was the picture of family carnage as Dawn’s kids bickered and Joe searched for a missing coat. Kim was smug amid the screeching children, asking distracted Joe if he was prepared for the chaos of taking on a woman with kids.
Meanwhile, at the Miligans’, Caleb was preparing for his first day back at work. He continued to ignore Joe’s calls, having had enough of him already.
However, his good mood didn’t last long – Caleb called into the Woolpack in a sulk after some bad news from the police. He’d just learned that the man who stabbed him had fled to Thailand, escaping justice.
And, as he swapped notes with Charity about Joe, she warned him that he could only be up to no good – sharing her suspicions about Noah’s spiking.
Back at home, Ross was paying Steph a visit when Joe stopped by in search of his jacket. As Steph handed it over, a packet of medication fell out – and Ross was quick to notice as he scrambled to pick them up.
As Caleb returned home, Joe beat a hasty retreat. Clearly suspicious, he settled on a plan – sabotaging a light fixture as an excuse to call for Noah’s help.
While Noah set to work, Caleb quizzed him over his thoughts on Joe. Noah filled him in on his sabotaging the business and the whole spiking incident – explaining how he thought he’d seen Joe while in his drugged-up state.
Is Caleb onto Joe?

Dawn had a decision to make
As Billy played with the kids, Kim and Dawn watched. Dawn’s decision weighed heavily on her mind as Kim noted what a good husband and father her man was. Father of the Year Billy wanted to spend the day in town with the kids, but Dawn would rather ignore him while she made up her mind.
Packing Billy off alone, Dawn was mulling over her decision at the pagoda when Manpreet arrived. Dawn soon broke down in tears as Manpreet rattled on, and seeing how upset she was, Manpreet invited her around for a bottle of brandy.
At Manpreet’s, Dawn shared her sense of suffocation, explaining how she wanted nothing more than to run away from her own family.
Manpreet advised her that she might want to do something just for her, without concern for anyone else. We don’t think she meant that Dawn should leave her husband for another man, but that seemed to be how she’d taken it…
Afterwards, Dawn met with Joe in the woods, ready to give him her decision. But first, she was worried that he wasn’t serious about their relationship, nor whether she could rely on him.
He reassured her that he’d come back to the village just for her. Won over by his declarations of love, she joined him in an embrace – growing concerned when he yelped in pain after she prodded one of his injuries.
Throwing her off with claims that he’d slipped in the shower, he reassured her again that he was going nowhere. And, as they got cosy in the woods, she revealed her plan to tell Billy tomorrow.
“Until tomorrow, then,” Joe smiled, not put off by her warning that all hell was about to break loose.
John admitted to Aaron he’s got control issues (Credit: ITV)
John apologised to Aaron in Emmerdale tonight
Aaron was licking his wounds after being on the receiving end of John’s wrath yesterday. Victoria reassured him that there fight was nothing more than a flash in the pan, and that the pair are made for each other.
Returning home, he found that John had returned after going AWOL. John quickly apologised for storming off and explained himself. With Aaron having doubts about their future, John admitted that he was the problem, due to his control issues.
He revealed that he felt like a failure, and needed to feel as though he was in control in order to function. John and Aaron are back on track for now, but how long can John keep his issues under… uh, control?
Jacob and Charity’s attempt to get rid of Kammy backfired
At the Woolpack, Jacob mulled over what to do about Sarah and Kammy. Spurred on by Charity, he informed her that Kammy was seeing someone else – and explained how he’d overheard her talking to a girl named Lily on the phone.
Sarah headed off to confront Kammy, accompanied by Charity and Jacob. As Kammy pulled up in a flash new car, Charity and Jacob were quickly left with egg smeared all over their faces – Lily was the name of the car.
Done with Jacob and Charity’s interference, she warned them both off before hopping into Lily for a drive around the countryside.
