Kelce was fined $14,000 for his tribute to Tony Gonzalez

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ fans laughed off the fine handed to Travis Kelce for his tribute to Tony Gonzalez after eclipsing his franchise touchdowns record, before attacking the NFL for taking the “fun” out of the game.
Upon making a Christmas Day catch against the Pittsburgh Steelers, his third of the season, the 35-year-old tight end jumped to the NFL goal and threw the ball between the hoops to pay homage to the 48-year-old by copying his trademark celebration.
That’s because Taylor Swift‘s boyfriend just moved past Gonzalez‘s Chiefs‘ record to lead the franchise in receiving touchdowns outright with 78, and showed a humble nature to pay remember to the legend in the moment.
All the same, the NFL slapped his wrists with a $14,069 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct with the use of a prop (the ball and crossbar) as fans of the sport and Chiefs laughed at the league for the decision.
One user wrote to X.com, formerly Twitter, “Lol the league is so soft with these fines. 14k for dunking over the crossbar. What a joke. Glad to see that he did it to honor a great like Gonzalez.”
A second added, “Kelce‘s podcast is worth millions already. This is a $14k investment which will X many times over.”
And a third commented, “No Fun League,” mocking the anacronym for NFL.
So did another user, who said, “No fun league strikes again.”
Gonzazlez offers to pay the fine
Kelce, of course, is worth over $130m through his successful career in the sport so the fine won’t be an issue for him. If he needed to, he could always ask his billionaire girlfriend to spot him the cash until payday too.

Funnily enough, Gonzalez himself offered to pay the fine if Kelce did the dunk so it seems as though everyone disagrees with the NFL on the matter.
The Chiefs are next in action against the Denver Broncos on January 5 at the Empower Field. It’s unknown if Kelce will play the game or will be rested for Week 18 ahead of the 2024/25 NFL Playoffs.
Dwight Howard Brutally Trolls 76ers Star Joel Embiid For His Flopping Skills

Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has established himself as one of the toughest players to guard in the NBA. By using his combination of size, strength, and skill, the 7-foot center has dominated opponents, leading the league in free throw attempts per game in three of the last four seasons. Despite Minnesota Timberwolves commentators’ criticism, his ability to draw fouls and exploit his physicality has made him a nightmare for defenders.
Former NBA star Dwight Howard recently shared his perspective on guarding Embiid during an appearance on the Thanalysis Show. When asked how he would approach defending Embiid, Howard laid out his strategy after trolling Embiid for his flopping skills.
“He is probably, I think, the toughest to guard because he knows how to flop. He knows how to use his size and his strength when he has to. He can shoot real well. If I was checking him, I would have to beat him up and down the court, not let him get easy points, don’t go for no pump fakes,” Howard said.
“Usually when he gets it in his left hand, he does it with his right, but he likes to left hesi to the pull-up. So, I would be right up on that. So, as soon as have it like this, I’m crowding his space because I know he’s either going to do like this and try to go around me,” he added.
Paul George Heaps High Praise On Joel Embiid After Win Over Brooklyn
The Philadelphia 76ers dominated the Brooklyn Nets with a 123-94 victory at Barclays Center, thanks to Joel Embiid’s stellar performance. After the game, his teammate Paul George admired the 2022-23 NBA MVP’s competitive spirit and leadership on the court.
