Prince Harry “resented” the years Prince William and Kate Middleton spent nurturing their relationship before getting married, according to a royal author.

Simon Vigar has drawn comparisons between the Waleses’ relationship and that of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, characterizing Harry and Meghan’s timeline as moving at “warp speed.”

The author shared his observations on the Palace Confidential podcast while discussing his latest book, The Four Wives of Windsor – The Inside Story of Diana, Camilla, Catherine and Meghan – The True Power Behind The Royal Family. It comes as an expert revealed the similarities between Kate and Meghan Markle.

Vigar noted that William’s marriage with Kate proceeded at a slow pace, contrasting sharply with his mother Princess Diana’s marriage to the then-Prince Charles.

He explained on the Palace Confidential podcast that Kate received years to contemplate whether she wished to become part of the Royal Family, and once she made her decision, Kate “absolutely committed to it.”

Regarding the relationship between Harry and Meghan, Vigar suggested the lessons gained from Diana and Charles’ experience was “unlearned.” The royal author stated, “William was concerned it was all happening too quickly. Harry bristled at that and didn’t like his brother’s reaction to that.”

He maintained Harry was genuinely anxious that nobody would be willing to join the Royal Family with him. Vigar suggested that while Princess Diana seemed well-matched for royal life, having aristocratic roots, Kate has proven to be the most successful addition to the Windsor family.

This was attributed to the fact that she and William spent time developing a comparatively “normal” relationship, going to university and being afforded privacy by the press.

Vigar continued, “That’s something Harry never had and clearly resented. The relationship with Meghan, once they mutually decided this is it, which was very early on, it went into warp drive and they were married in 2018.”

Harry and Meghan’s relationship began in July 2016, with the couple making their romance public four months later.

In September 2017, the Duchess of Sussex revealed to Vanity Fair that she and Harry were in love. Shortly thereafter, she moved to London, and the pair announced their engagement in November that year.

Their wedding took place on May 19, 2018.

William and Kate first crossed paths as students at St. Andrews University in 2001. The future monarch shared a flat with his future bride and another university friend in 2002.

They made their debut public appearance as a couple at the wedding of Queen Camilla’s daughter, Laura Parker-Bowles, in 2006. The pair broke up for a couple of months the following year, but by July 2007, there were reports of a reconciliation.

The future king proposed to Kate while on a trip to Kenya in October 2010, with the couple tying the knot in April 2011 in a fairytale wedding held at Westminster Abbey.
