Question Time presenter Fiona Bruce made a huge announcement about the show’s future during the latest episode on Thursday evening. The BBC current affairs debate was coming from from Paisley in Scotland with a panel comprised of Stephen Flynn, Anas Sarwar, Russell Findlay, Angela Haggerty and Lord Offord, who has defected to Reform.
After a lengthy discussion about the lifting of the two child benefit cap the host interrupted proceedings to break some important news about the programme. “Before we get to the next question, we want to say this is our last show of 2025,” she said. “We’re back on January 22 in Macclesfield. So if you live in or around Macclesfield and you would like to come and be part of the audience, apply (on) our website, and hopefully we will see you there on the 22nd of January.” She then reverted to the discussion as an audience member called James Sinclair put a question to the panel.
This is one of the usual breaks which the show takes and is prompted by Parliment’s schedule rather than a BBC diktat.
Parlimet is due to split in the coming days for the festive season and normal business won’t resume until January 5, meaning there are no panellists available for the show.
They break again for a couple of weeks at Easter with the dates varying depending on when the holiday falls and Question Time also goes of air for this period.
There is also a longer break of around six weeks during Parliment’s summer recess during which Question Time doesn’t broadcast.

Bruce made a further announcement at the end of the show as she revealed they had put together a special for fans to watch until they return.
“That is it, from Question Time this side of Christmas, we will be back in the new year. I just wanted to say we haven’t made a Christmas special – obviously, that’s not what we do on Question Time.
“But we have made a short film about how we put the show together behind the scenes. It’s called, imaginatively, Question Time: Behind The Scenes. And you can, you can look at it on iPlayer if you want to find that.”
“So Question Time: Behind The Scenes, have a look at that (and) you can see how this all gets put together,” she said before signing off.
