After almost a year away from the Cobbles, Amy Robbins is set to reprise her role as Daisy’s mum Christina – as the actress teases the ‘mischief’ to come

Amy Robbins is making her return to Coronation Street
Amy Robbins makes her onscreen return to the cobbles next week, as Christina serves as part of her daughter Daisy Midgeley’s (Charlotte Jordan) exit storyline.
It was confirmed earlier this year that Charlotte would be leaving the soap after four years, in a bid to “explore other opportunities.” Charlotte said: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.” Amy Robbins is back, as “hot mess” Christina and she’s making sure her on screen daughter has an exit to remember, which includes a storyline similar to that of Netflix phenomenon, Sweet Bobby.
Despite having a turbulent relationship, Daisy recently reached out to her mother, insisting she needed help, ad for the first time, the mother and daughter are working together as a duo, and unfortunately, Daisy’s step mum Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) is getting the brunt of it.
Revealing what Christina and Daisy would get up to on her return, to the Mirror and other press, Amy said: “For the first time you see the two women work together. When push comes to shove, she’s relying on her flesh and blood to help her out of it. Christina runs to her rescue to finally get revenge on Jenny, which is what she’s always wanted to do.”

Daisy recently discovered that her father, Gregory, put £60,000 worth of shares in his ex-wife Jenny’s name when they were married. Daisy believes the money’s rightly hers, as does Christina, so of course, she rushes back to help her daughter – and Christina isn’t holding back as she decides to catfish Jenny.
“I think we’re aware that Jenny is in need of a boyfriend or a bit of male attention, so we just create this character called Dom,” Amy said. “We create this character and she falls madly in love with Don. And Dom is attentive and lovely and you know, in our imagination terribly handsome.”
Despite knowing it’s a fraud all along, Daisy and Christina will continue to convince Jenny to fall in love with their false persona. “We’re, just wrapping her around our little finger, making her fall in love with this man. Christina is sending the messages to her from him. It’s wicked and cruel.”
“He sends her bottles of champagne and loads of flowers. We can all look forward to, lots of fun, lots of fun, but also probably a lot of trouble, to be honest,” Amy teased.

Amy says it’s ‘unlikely’ her character will return after Daisy’s exit
“They get carried away with themselves and they actually ask themselves why did you do that? Again with the sweet Bobby thing, what, why would that girl have done that to her cousin? Christina gets very carried away with the sport of it.”
The money isn’t the only issue Daisy has with her stepmother. The pair have had a rocky relationship as of late, when Jenny wrongly told Daniel he was the father of Daisy’s child. However, it was Kit Green who was actually the dad.
Jenny then convinced Daisy to keep up the lie as Daniel offered to pay off their debts, however, the truth came out during a row, and Jenny ended up telling Kit the truth. As Daisy ran out the pub she was hit by a car, causing her to lose her baby.
Christina, on the other hand, has her own problems with Jenny claiming she “has long term resentment” towards Jenny for “stealing her life.”
“It’s pure jealousy,” Amy said. “Jenny’s probably all the characteristics that Christina would like to have, she, she would love to have the bond with her daughter, but you know, that’s the price she pays. Ultimately when it comes down to it, Jenny took her life. She took her husband, and I don’t think Christina’s ever got over that.”
It looks like this may be Amy’s last stint on the cobbles, as she reveals a return for Christina is “highly unlikely” after the departure of Daisy. However, it means Amy is going to make sure it’s Christina’s best stint yet. “I’m trying to have so much fun with her in the pub that they can’t get rid of her,” she joked.
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
