On Sunday, Miami women’s basketball stars Haley and Hanna Cavinder posted a short TikTok video based on fans’s criticisms of their hooping skills. The video featured the Cavinder twins standing on the court at the Watsco Center.

“They can’t even hoop,” the Twins acaptioned the video.

Fans dropped their comments in the comment section. However, one fan particularly caught the attention of the Hurricanes stars, who trolled them for their longevity in college basketball.

“They’ve been hooping for 9 years at uni. Let them apply for their 10th,” the fan wrote.

The Cavinder twins replied, “might as well.”

Haley and Hanna Cavinder often face criticism from “haters” on social media

Since their rise to fame, a particular faction of fans have trolled Haley and Hanna Cavinder on social media. The twins have played basketball since childhood and began their collegiate career at Fresno State during the 2019-2020 season. Two years later, they moved to the Miami Hurricanes, where they established themselves as key players.

Despite producing stellar performances for the Canes over the years, the Cavinder twins have endured criticisms from “haters” who write them off as “Instagram models” or TikTokers, not basketball players.

“They don’t see them as basketball players,” Miami assistant Shenise Johnson said per ESPN three years ago. “They see them as TikTok celebrities or whatever. … But that’s not who they are. They’re F’ing ballers, hoopers, and probably some of the most competitive I’ve been around.

“They’re good human beings. They’re really good teammates. They care about each other. And they work. I don’t know if people really know that about them.”

The twins try their best to tune out the criticisms. However, it has not been easy, leaving them frustrated sometimes.

“We love basketball, but do I think I’m known for playing basketball like all these other well-known superstar female basketball players? No,” Haley said. “But does that mean I don’t love basketball as much? No. I love basketball. What works for me is what works for me. Doesn’t have to work for you.”

Four months ago, Hanna went on a social media rant against people criticizing college athletes. In a two-minute TikTok video, the Miami star said she did not understand why people troll athletes for their looks on social media.

Besides verbally clapping back, the Cavinder twins tend to show off their acquired luxuries to indicate their success to their “haters.”

On the court, Haley and Hanna continue to enjoy a great season with the Miami Hurricanes. Haley is averaging 17.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists on 47.1 percent shooting, while Hanna averages 7.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.9 assists on 50 percent shooting per game.
