The most-watched telecasts of 2024 have come out, and it shows that football is genuinely king around the country.
A list showed the most watched TV shows of 2024, with the NFL easily dominating with 72 spots in the top 100.
College football came in second in that top-100 with four spots, while the Paris Olympics occupied two spots.
Women’s college basketball had one spot, and Major League Baseball had one spot.
The National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, Men’s college basketball as well as Major League Soccer all came in with zero spots.
Football is simply king around the country.
If high school ball was nationally televised as well, it would most certainly commandeer a few spots.
The Top-11 Most-Watched Programs In 2024 Belonged To Football
The NFL’s stranglehold on American media consumption was already known, but once you truly put it into perspective, it really shows that football is king.
The most-watched telecasts of 2024 had 72 spots just for the NFL, and that includes the top-11.
The most-watched telecast was Super Bowl LVIII, which pitted Kansas City vs. San Francisco. That game had 121,009,000 viewers.
The NFC Championship between San Francisco vs. Detroit had 56,632,000 viewers.
The AFC Divisional Playoff game with Kansas City vs. Buffalo brought in 50,715,000 viewers to watch football between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
The NFC Playoff of San Francisco vs. Green Bay came in fourth with 37,895,000 viewers.
The Detroit vs. Los Angeles Rams playoff game was just below it, with 32,371,000 viewers.
A Thursday Night Football game between Kansas City vs. Baltimore had 24,888,000 people tuning in.
Another Thursday night special between Green Bay vs. Miami had 24,315,000 viewers.
The next four football games were all Sunday night games.
