Top chef Gordon Ramsay faced a humbling reality check from his mom with just a simple four-word question in a humorous clip that’s resurfaced online. The famed chef is known for his a strict and straightforward demeanor, and his ability to deliver a good roast – in more ways than one.

The star first shot to fame via the UK documentary series, Boiling Point, which was released in 1999 and aired on the country’s popular Channel 4. The series charted his journey to opening his now flagship restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. The establishment has gone on to earn the talented chef a coveted three Michelin Stars – an achievement few chefs can claim, while viewers of the series got an unfiltered view of Ramsay’s relentless drive and hot-headed nature. These traits are as much his signature as his talent in the kitchen.

Despite earning his stripes under prestigious, acclaimed chefs and going on to helm his own successful empire, it turns out his mother’s casual commentary can still ground the TV heavyweight.

An entertaining video making rounds on Reddit shows Gordon Ramsay presenting a pie, fresh from the oven, on a countertop alongside his mother – but it wasn’t long until his she squarely put him in his place.

After a quick glance at her son’s creation, she simple asked: “Cooked in the middle?” Initially, the chef seemed unconvinced by his mom’s query but it still promoted him to inspect his creation more closely.

His response upon realizing the center was underdone? A candid admission of: “Oh, s—. No, it’s not actually.”

The celebrity chef’s mom then laughed hysterically, leading to his playful retort: “Oh, all right, smarta—“.

Hi mom then humorously critiqued his cooking by claiming the dish was “sinking in the middle” like the Titanic.

The amusing exchange was uploaded to Reddit, with a caption that stated: “Gordon Ramsay owned in the kitchen, by his mum”.

The poster then added: “Imagine spending two decades mastering cooking just to get owned by your own mum.”

Fellow Reddit users were eager to share their views, with one commenting: “Gordon has always had an attitude, but he knows when to back off when he is in the wrong. Solid dude [to be honest].”

Someone else declared: “No matter where you are in life, your mom can always remind you she’s the real boss lol”.

Another said: “Mama Ramsay is the only chef who could tell Gordon the chicken is undercooked.”

And another Redditor reflected on meeting Ramsay in person. They shared: “I’ve met Gordon twice and he’s the biggest teddy bear of a man you could ever meet. He even remembered me the 2nd time we bumped into each other.”
