Speculation has spread about The Kelly Clarkson Show in recent weeks amid claims that the host could quit – and a producer said their working situation doesn’t feel ‘too stable’

The Kelly Clarkson Show “could collapse any minute” as a “stressed” producer claimed staff are begging former Today host Hoda Kotb to replace her.

On her show, which first aired in 2019, singer Kelly, 43, talks to celebrities and interacts with the audience. The American Idol winner’s show recently celebrated its 1,000th episode and boasts 22 Daytime Emmys, including several wins for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host.

But speculation has spread in recent weeks, with sources claiming she is planning to quit her hosting duties once her contract at NBC expires in 2026. Amid rumors that Kelly could quit, a producer said staffers are now fearing for their jobs.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the producer said, “Not feeling too stable. She could bolt at any time. Where does that leave me? Stressed is an understatement. No one likes the uncertainty. This feels like it could collapse any minute.”

While saying that “everyone loves Kelly” as she is “a wonderful person,” the staffer said, “Maybe Hoda would be a better boss. I know she’s universally beloved and respected by her former co-workers. Maybe she would be good. She sure would be a lot more stable than what we’ve been going through.”

The producer added, “If Kelly is unhappy, then she should move on. We would all understand. If Hoda wants to do it, it could be win-win for everyone.” It comes after sources claimed the talk show host wants to step away to spend more time with her children outside of New York City, where the show is taped.

According to one insider who spoke to Page Six last month, “Kelly’s number one priority is her children, and they always will be,” adding, “The show is grueling. It’s a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South.”

The singer shares River Rose, 10, and Remy, 8, with ex-husband and former manager Brandon Blackstock. After seven years of marriage, Kelly filed for divorce in 2020, which was finalized in 2022. In March, The Kelly Clarkson Show was off the air for two weeks as the star tended to an undisclosed “personal matter.”

Guest hosts Andy Cohen, Simu Liu, and Kal Penn stepped in for the Since U Been Gone singer until she returned on March 18, with Kal hosting again on April 1. When Season 7 was announced last December, NBC exec Tracie Wilson released a statement saying, “Kelly Clarkson is a national treasure. We couldn’t wait to announce another season of The Kelly Clarkson Show, fresh off the top-rated Christmas in Rockefeller Center in which Kelly hosted.”
