Home and Away has confirmed how the big storyline involving Kirby Aramoana and Leah Patterson will conclude.

The pair have teamed up following the controversy regarding a recent marketing campaign involving the surf shop, which saw Kirby’s figure and skin tone altered with the justification being that it made her “more appealing”.

Following the racist airbrushing, Kirby launched a campaign against the agency, going as far as staging a protest over their actions. Leah supported her in her cause, with the character being arrested after vandalising one of the company’s vans.

In scenes set to air next week, Leah will keep her mouth shut regarding Roo’s involvement in the protest, with Roo sharing that she doesn’t want her father, Alf, to learn of her attendance.

However, when the pair notice that the power of the hashtag is dwindling, Alf quips that it would be a shame if they got arrested for nothing. Roo is shocked that her father knows, though Alf – who is completely understanding – remarks that practically the whole town is aware.

Leah is not willing to go down without a fight, suggesting to Roo that she may skip her date at court in order to drum up more publicity. Roo is sceptical of the idea, thinking that Leah may be potentially playing with fire.

Kirby, meanwhile, is more downbeat regarding the Keep It Real campaign, telling the supporters that she is ready to move on and is now at peace with her appearance, saying other people’s perceptions do not define her.

The emotional speech is recorded, with Leah becoming empowered by Kirby’s words. She subsequently heads into court and passionately defends her friend, who later receives a formal apology from the company.
