Britain’s Got Talent returned to ITV with more auditions from Blackpool; although 11-year-old Oliver wowed the judges and studio audience, some viewers took to social media with complaints.
The youngster took to the stage hoping to win a spot at the Royal Variety Performance, armed with an electric guitar, while his elated grandfather watched from the side with Ant and Dec.
Although he admitted he was “very nervous,” Oliver performed electrifying guitar covers of Van Halen’s Jump and Queen’s 1979 hit Don’t Stop Me Now, which impressed panellists Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI.
The crowd were also amazed by his talent as they urged for the judges to press the golden buzzer on their behalf.
While Oliver jumped with glee, some fans complained that it was “too soon” for the highly coveted moment, including one who penned: “#BGT too many golden buzzers now someone needs to unplug that buzzer asap!!!”

A second viewer fumed: “Does the audience just chant ‘PRESS THE GOLD’ to every act now?? #britainsgottalent #bgt.”
As another echoed: ” Needs to be less golden buzzers !!! #BGT Only few episodes in and already button worn out!”
“As much as Olly deserved the Golden Buzzer – can we please stop having the audience decide who gets a Golden Buzzer? It should be the judges choice not influenced by the audience. #BGT,” complained a third.
Despite the fury, others insisted that Olly was worthy of the buzzer and defended the 11-year-old, as one fan shared: “Olly is definitely a guitar virtuoso! What a great Golden Buzzer selection, Amanda!!!”
The sixth viewer remarked: “Ksi shouting ‘that was sick’ for Olly, haha bless him! Deffo deserved the golden buzzer.”
