Strictly’s Ola Jordan Admits ‘Darkest Days’ After James Split as Daughter Becomes Her ‘Sunshine’
Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Ola Jordan has opened up about the emotional reality of her summer following her separation from husband James Jordan.
The 43-year-old dancer shared an intimate photograph with their six-year-old daughter, Ella, while admitting that her heart had at times felt “heavier than I ever imagined it could”.
Ola and James announced earlier this year that they were taking time apart after more than 20 years of marriage.
The couple, who became familiar faces through their years as professional dancers, said they were attempting to work through “very difficult personal challenges.” James subsequently moved out of the family home.
In her latest update, Ola acknowledged how unexpectedly her life had changed and described some days as incredibly difficult.
“There have been moments this summer when my heart has felt heavier than I ever imagined it could,” she wrote.
“Life has changed in ways I never expected, and some days have been incredibly tough.”
Daughter Ella has been Ola’s ‘ray of sunshine’
Despite the uncertainty surrounding her marriage, Ola said one part of her life had remained constant: her relationship with Ella.
“But through all of the uncertainty, one thing has remained constant: my beautiful girl, Ella,” she wrote.
Ola said spending the summer holidays with her daughter had provided moments of happiness during an otherwise painful period.
The pair made memories together, shared cuddles and laughed “until our tummies hurt,” with Ola describing that time as the greatest part of her summer.
“She may not realise it now, but she has been my little ray of sunshine through some of my darkest days,” the former Strictly professional added.
Ola admitted the summer had not unfolded as she once expected, but said she was making a conscious decision to concentrate on her daughter and the memories they were creating.
“This summer hasn’t been the one I imagined, but I’m choosing to focus on what truly matters — her, our memories, and all the love between us,” she wrote.
Ola thanks supporters for helping her feel less alone
Ola also expressed her gratitude to the people who have supported her privately and through social media since the separation was announced.
She thanked everyone who had sent messages, checked on her wellbeing or offered words of kindness during the difficult period.
“To everyone who has sent me messages, checked in on me, shown me kindness, or simply reminded me that I’m not alone, thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she wrote.
“Your love and support have meant more to me than you will ever know.”
The post quickly attracted affectionate messages from Ola’s friends and followers.
Charlotte Dawson wrote: “Beautiful. Sending so much love.”
Another supporter told the dancer she was “doing amazing” despite the challenges she was facing.
“It’s so tough what you are going through, but I can assure you that you will get through it,” the person wrote, adding that the experience would make Ola stronger.
A third commenter focused on the bond between Ola and Ella, describing the six-year-old as her mother’s “tonic”.
“Nothing beats a mother-daughter bond,” the message read.
Ola competed as a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing until 2015. Her relationship with James remained closely associated with the programme because the couple had danced professionally and spent years in the public eye together.
Their joint separation statement did not confirm that their marriage had permanently ended. Instead, they said they were taking time apart while navigating personal difficulties.
Ola’s latest message offered no further details about the future of their relationship. It instead revealed how she is coping with the changes by focusing on Ella, whose presence has given her comfort during some of her hardest days.
