Breaking News: Good Morning America ANNOUNCES Michael Strahan’s ABSENCE – What Happened to Him?
Throughout Michael Strahan‘s time as a news anchor on Good Morning America, there have been multiple times when the TV personality hasn’t been on the air, from hosting The $10,000 Pyramid or making an appearance on Dancing With the Stars. Usually when Michael misses a taping, fans are curious to know where he is and when he’s coming back to their televisions.
Like previous times before, fans of the hit daytime show found themselves looking for Michael for the October 23 taping of GMA when they discovered he wasn’t sitting alongside his co-stars Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos (Rebecca Jarvis took Michael’s place!).
So, where is Michael and what caused him to not appear on the latest episode of GMA? Turns out, he was working on another network for a special reason!
What happened to Michael Strahan on Good Morning America?
Football season is here, which means Michael will likely be missing a lot of Mondays. As a regular commentator for the sports program Fox NFL Sunday, the former NFL star often needs to fly out to California in order to film alongside fellow football icons Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson.
On October 22, Michael confirmed he was with Terry in an Instagram post, so he probably can’t make it back in time from the Fox studios in California to the ABC ones in New York.
“My guy!” he captioned the selfie. “Everybody’s #1 and the original TB12! Mr. Terry Bradshaw.”

But don’t worry, all of this doesn’t mean Michael plans on leaving GMA. As some fans already know, Michael has been an analyst for Fox NFL Sunday ever since his first episode back in 2008. That means he’s been able to balance both shows simultaneously for the last six years, along with filming The $10,000 Pyramid when it requires him to comes back for new episodes on ABC.
Although it’s unclear when Michael plans on returning to the news desk for Good Morning America, we’ll all be happy when he’s back on our screens when he does.
