“GET OUT NOW!” BBC Radio Legend ‘Kicked Out’ of Studio in Explosive On-Air Showdown
The former BBC and ITV star was “stunned” by the encounter.

A radio legend was told to “get out now” and that he should not be in the building after being interviewed about his five-decade long career. Paul Moulton, who has worked for BBC and ITV, was a guest on Manx Radio when the incident occured. The 66-year-old veteran broadcaster, who has previously worked for the channel, had been invited in to discuss his impressive 50 years in the business. However the occassion turned sour when he was told to leave.
The veteran star said he was “stunned” after being told to leave the Douglas Head station by director of programming, news and content Alex Brindley, shortly after recording the chat. Discussing it on his joint Isle of Man TV show with Chris Robertshaw he said: “The door opened, and he said, ‘What are you doing here, sort of thing?’ He said, ‘You need to get out of here’,” Paul recalled.
He continued: “…It clearly was meant. He was furious. He was incandescent with rage. He said, ‘Get out now!’ And he just showed me the door.”
The chat has been viewed 6,500 times on YouTube so far.
Paul has been a very vocal critic of the station’s current direction of Manx Radio and suggested the confrontation stemmed from this. “Maybe we’ve hit home. All we’ve been talking about for weeks now is how Manx Radio has not hit its obligations to do the proper public service remit.,” he reflected.
The station receives an annual government subvention of £1.3 million funded by taxpayers and he believes it has moved too far away from its roots in speech-based programming.

Paul presented shows on Manx Radio and Energy FM in the earlier decades of his career, and he currently hosts a Saturday afternoon program on The Sound Radio.
He is also the founder of independent online video news service Isle of Man TV, which provides coverage of local events, politics, and community stories.
In 2011 he ran as an independent candidate in the 2011 Isle of Man General Election for Douglas East.
In 2023 he hit the headlines when he publicly addressed a legal dispute with the Isle of Man Government, describing it as an attempt to suppress his reporting.
