BBC News star Laura Foster has issued a health update after being taken for surgery. The news correspondent says she was under “strict instructions” ahead of the operation to avoid wearing make-up or lotions on her skin – but a breaking news story at the last minute meant she had to get camera-ready.
Taking to Instagram, Laura shared a snap of her on the programme as she discussed the breaking news of a right-wing terrorist plot in Suffolk, where 10,000 Muslims were meeting. Laura went on air at the scene without make-up on, and later shared an update from her hospital bed.

Laura told her fans: “Was under strict instructions not to wear make-up or any lotions because I was having surgery the next day.
“Naturally, that’s when a major breaking news story happened and I ended up live on network news.
“Resting at home now… trying not to watch the news too much as it’s not exactly restful is it?”
Laura showed a picture of one of her ankles wrapped in a sturdy bandage, and her other foot in compression stockings resting atop the covers in her hospital bed.
