Lawrence Jones III, a Fox News contributor, came under heavy criticism after appearing on Sean Hannity’s show Wednesday night wearing a t*ctical vest at the southern U.S.–Mexico border. Photos of Jones in the ill-fitting vest, with nothing inside its pouches, standing beside U.S. Border Protection agents, quickly sparked ridicule for “pretending to be in a wr zne.”

Jones later claimed agents forced him to wear it for safety. But many veteran reporters and ex-military pushed back. Jacob Soboroff of MSNBC firmly stated: “I have never once worn a bulletproof vest at the border, even while on a chase with Border Patrol in the Arizona desert at night. Because. The. Border. Is.
