BREAKING NEWS: GMB host Susanna Reid breaks silence on ITV future as she talks ‘replacement’
Susanna Reid has spoken out about the prospects of being replaced on Good Morning Britain.

Susanna Reid has opened up about the future of ITV and her job at Good Morning Britain amid the major shake-ups to scheduling and production. The presenter also addressed the prospects of being replaced from the hit breakfast programme, which she regularly fronts with co-host Ed Balls. The 55-year-old has been GMB’s lead presenter since its launch in 2014, becoming a staple figure on screens alongside Kate Garraway, Richard Madeley, Ed, Ben Shephard and Charlotte Hawkins.
Despite being beloved by viewers, Susanna addressed fears about technological advancement and its potential impact on her career. Speaking to Women and Home, the TV star stated: “We’re in challenging times with the advent of AI. I’m savouring every moment in television because who knows at what point I might be replaced by an AI version? We disappear into our own algorithms, people just want their own interests, and it worries me.”

Susanna continued: “When you’re in news, current affairs and journalism like I am, you are appealing to a breakfast audience with a million different interests. You are keeping people’s spirits up with entertainment, but at the same time delivering difficult, challenging news about the economy and world events.
“If we have an AI version of super-highly tailored news, you would lose that sense of ‘I didn’t realise I wanted to know about that’ or ‘That didn’t occur to me.'”
Addressing the programme’s production shift in January, the presenter recalled: “Moving GMB to ITN was a big, dramatic change. The team was cut down, and who’s not going to feel sad about losing a chunk of staff? But people have found other fulfilling work and change is an opportunity – you have to lean into change and make it work.
“My generation’s time of life is a constant period of flux and change. We have ageing parents and growing children. We’re not stuck. We have to adapt all the time and be flexible.”

Susanna told the publication: “I don’t think beyond GMB. I won’t until the moment someone says, ‘Thanks very much. You can have a lie-in tomorrow!’ It’s very important to accept that you’re not going to work forever at a particular job. For whatever reason, things change. There will always be other things. Maybe one day I’ll have my own podcast. I’m a massive podcast fan.”
Back in May 2025, it was also announced that ITV Studios will no longer make Good Morning Britain, but instead it will be made by ITN.
The change will form part of a renewed agreement between ITV and ITN. ITN will produce national, international, London, and digital news for ITV for the next five years, with options to extend.
As a result, the programmes Lorraine and Loose Women had their usual time slots axed. From January 2026, Good Morning Britain was extended by 30 minutes, running from 6 am to 9.30 am.
